Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day can be a personal thing — from a street fest to the best corned beef and cabbage for miles around — a great brew with friends at a friendly pub, or green beer and lots of people at a place you go to be seen. The choice is yours, and around the Burbank area, you can find pretty much whatever you’re looking for in way of celebration on this favorite of fun, spring holidays.
Tallyrand Restaurant is an “old Burbank” diner that is famous for its good food, and renowned for its corned beef — they serve up a whopping plateful that wins raves from regulars and newcomers alike. They also serve pretty great hash for breakfast, if you’re less traditional. Gayot’s has compiled a list of the top ten St. Patrick’s Day restaurants in the area, complete with reviews, if you’re so inclined, and Ireland’s 32 on Burbank Blvd. in Van Nuys made the cut. Try the Belfast Catch — great fish and chips. But, then, it doesn’t have to be a special day for that!
If you’re in the mood for a parade and an outdoor party, as well as a bit of a drive, try celebrating with Ventura County at the traditional Irish Parade on Main Street, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15. The theme for this 26th annual celebration is The Irish though the Ages. Many other communities have special events planned for the day, so you’re sure to find some cold brew, good food and friendly people. Have a great time, and be safe.
