Prepare your home for winter!
While southern California winters aren’t known for snow and freezing temperatures, it’s still important to maintain your home for seasonal changes, especially with predictions of an El Niño. Follow these home maintenance tips and make sure you’re prepared for the winter ahead!
Weather stripping.
Invest in keeping you home protected from the elements! Make sure your doors and windows are sealed to prevent cold air from coming in and warm air from escaping. You may even save some money on your heating bills.
Clean gutters.
Make sure to clean your gutters! An El Niño event is expected this season so don’t get caught with flooding and associated damage to your home. If you cannot clean your gutters yourself consider hiring a roofer or contractor to do the job.
Trees maintenance.
Make sure your trees are pruned and healthy. Winter weather can bring rain and winds that may cause trees to topple or branches to break. Evaluate your trees to make sure there are no branches hanging over your home or any signs of tree rot. If you notice any damage call an arborist and have the tree taken down.
Prepare for A Disaster.
In the unlikely event that you get stuck at home due to a natural disaster or power outage, make sure you have enough supplies on hand. Keep water, extra blankets, flashlights with extra batteries, canned food, and anything else you think you may need well stocked in your home. You may want to keep a similar emergency kit in your car too!
