As the holidays come to a close, we consider the year ahead. It’s a time for new beginnings, so start off the year with resolutions for a healthier, happier you! Here’s our shortlist for New Year’s resolutions!
De-stress.
Stress is a natural response to our environments to push us to accomplish tasks, but the demands of our everyday life often send our stress into overdrive. Make a commitment to yourself in the new year to reduce your stress. Meditation, exercise, social activities, and even a vacation are all excellent ways to relax!
Sleep more.
Commit to getting, at least, an extra hour of sleep each night in the new year. Sleep is vital to keeping you happy and healthy. Lack of sleep can increase your risk of life-threatening health risks like obesity and type II diabetes. So make sure you get some extra Zzzz this year!
Give up that bad habit.
Whether it’s smoking, drinking, or even biting your nails, try to make this the year that you kicked your worst habit. Being able to kick a habit will give you extra confidence and may even make you a bit healthier!
Stay connected.
Everyone is busy! Our responsibilities often get in the way and we lose touch with people in our lives. Consider actively reaching out to a long lost friend or relative. Send them an email, or even send a handwritten letter! Reconnecting with people makes you more social and, therefore, healthier!
Pick up a new hobby.
Try taking a dance class, join a bowling league, or even go back to school! If it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, why not give it a try? Accomplishing a goal or learning new skill improves your confidence.
Travel.
Make a promise to yourself to travel more this year. Travel breaks up your normal routine and opens you up to new cultures and ideas! Your experiences will make you a more well-rounded individual.
